Why I Love a Card Show - Part 2
#21

RE: Why I Love a Card Show - Part 2
Another show this past weekend and I spent two hours going through the 10 for a dollar boxes cherry picking the best of what I could find. Here are my top 9 from this show.

The Wagner is a Piedmont Black variation. I got several Pinks, Blacks and Camos from last year's set and several other GU. Anytime I see a GU card in a 10 for a dollar box, I'll buy it. The Jeter appears to have a printing mark on it from a roller which is probably why it was in that box. I came home with close to 800 cards and pulled over 30 cards valued at $10 or more. Love the card shows.
I collect Hall of Fame baseball player cards and cards of current and retired superstars.

There was a Jeter GUd card (probably $12-$15 BV minimum) in a 10 cent box? Wow. Some seller either didn't know what he had in there or has lost his mind.

I set up a quarter box at my show this past weekend, and people went crazy over it. I had refractors (purples, oranges), star base and low-end inserts (anything less than $6-$8) in there. That being said, I'm not putting a Jeter GUd card into it.

I'm interested in the Nolan Ryan #d/49 you had in the first scan on the initial page (and probably some other Ryans). I wasn't really collecting him, only pulling him out of stuff when I saw him.

But the other day, I went through my Ryan stash and have over 1,200 different. Also have the Pacific 250 card set (or whatever it is), a couple of star sets from the 1980s, 1990s and lots of other oddball type cards.

HOLY !*?% You could have told me they were in a $1 bin and I would have said great pick-ups, but in a dime box just seems insane. I wish I could find a card show like that.
Collecting John Stockton, Karl Malone, Ivan Rodriguez, Gary Carter & UF player rookie year cards.  Plus Jedd Gyorko rookie and prospect cards.

Funny thing is I didn't realize I had the Jeter GU until I had left the show. This particular dealer had all of his cards divided by player and I grabbed all of his Jeter cards (about 75 of them) because I can always trade Jeter. I didn't go through them before I bought them and didn't realize I had that one until I sorted them later.

I collect Ryan too and that UD Heroes card is not a dupe so I'll hang onto it.
