Graded Wall Display -- My Attempt
#91

RE: Graded Wall Display -- My Attempt
I'm actually working on an open case (no glass) for a member here who needs another for his table at shows.

Haven't really done much other than working on the above since yesterday as my MIL was in town over the weekend. I did build this:

So I could stand and work rather than be on the flipping floor or the top of a cardboard box. MUCH easier on my 80 year old back (I'm 35, but had surgery when I was 25 and it's never been the same).

I have decided to switch all construction to Aspen however. A, it's a few cents cheaper (I mean literally like 5 cents a board foot), and B, it's harder than the poplar I was using, and C, I feel it's finishing MUCH nicer than the Poplar.

I do have ads up on Etsy, have gotten quite a few views in just a few days. I'm hopeful there because the only graded case competitor there is Homeplate Hero's at $360 and $650ish a case.

And I learned something a couple days ago too. PSA slabs are noticably larger than Beckett. Can someone do me a favor and put a PSA and Beckett slab side by side and take pics and possibly get me accurate measurements on the PSA slab? I may have to revise some sizing in order to accommodate the PSA slabs and I've only had BGS slabs on hand for building purposes.

see me I do have such a business

Yeah, I know, cheap piggybacking a sub-domain on my other business domain, but until this proves lucrative, I'm going to go cheap. Also look for Fastbird93 on Etsy, I have a shop on there now too.

Here's the one I'm working on right now. This is the first coat of stain still wet and soaking in.

Thanks guys. I'll have pics of this current one finished tonight or tomorrow. I'm currently clearing it with poly but it's wipe on and goes on sooooo thin.

Here's the latest one. 17x22 outer dimensions for show table display. No glass, just a nice case to lay your for sale stuff in. My first official sale too!
