Goalie is upset with playing time for season...puts puck in his own net then flips off the coach, bench and crowd.....then exits stage right!

I lettered during my Junior year, and for personal reasons I didn't try out Senior year. About halfway through the year, one of the other goalies got kicked off the team, so the coach asked me to rejoin the team. I did, and I backed up a fellow Senior goalie who was playing really well. I didn't really care about playing in "x" amount of games, I rejoined the team so I could practice every day. I just wanted an occasional game here and there... so, after being sat a few times during back-to-back games, I was started to get upset, cause when I did play, I played really well. Then one game he said that all three goalies (we carried a Sophomore goalie too) were going to get one period each.... I told the coach that I was done playing for him, and I wasn't going to play in that game... or any other game that season unless both goalies were hurt. I told him he could keep me on the team (which he did), but that I wasn't going to play a minute of game time for him anymore. I couldn't imagine scoring on myself, and hurting my teammates, but I can certainly understand where this kid could be coming from.

I can understand as well.....but as a goalie there arent as many as call up ops as another position....it kinda goes with the territory i would think....but this was just classless

Definitely a low-rent move, but I would like to hear the full story behind the kid's reason for doing this. There could be a reason good enough for tanking it, as other kids in the crowd seemed to be behind his actions. If the full story gets out there, I'd love to at least have the facts to base my judgment on, haha.

and I think that's the real bottom-line... we all assume coaches make the right moves and treat players well, and that the kid (because he's a kid) was in the wrong. I'd like to hear the full story too because he may have done the wrong thing for the right reasons

hahaha I saw this video yesterday and a bunch of us talked about it in the locker room before our pick-up hockey last night....I ended my night by doing the same move....no coaches obviously so I just flipped off everyone. Everyone loved it haha

Of course it wasn't a game so it had no affect on anything, but it was hilarious.
