Because people aren't reading the auction and the seller is taking advantage of stupid people.

Wow, $100+ for a worthless redemption card. That's an expensive mistake to make.

Sincitysportscards seems to make a habit of doing this. He's gotten positive feedback for them too!

Some people collect them. Others try and tell Topps that the code doesn't work

RE: Ebaying Used redemptions?
I guess one way of looking at it, if there's 25 (or however many) cards out there, there's only the same amount of redemption cards out there. Probably less, as I'm sure a lot of people get rid of the redemption card once they have the actual card in hand. So, if you collect a certain player, I can see why there'd be a desire to add it to your PC of a certain player.
That being said, I can't imagine paying the amounts that these people are actually paying for them. Unless, like clarkzac said, they're trying to scam Topps or they just don't understand what they're bidding on. Either way, the seller seems to make it pretty clear that they've been redeemed. So, if you can make money off of something that people are either confused about or are trying to be shady with, more power to ya, I guess.

i usually hang on to them just in case of any dispute. i made a trade a little while ago for a heritage 63 mint redemption and the trader was nice enough to send me the redemption card along with it. i just assumed it was already gone.

I can't imagine that someone would be successful trying to squeeze an auto from Topps on this. -Undoubtedly they have a record of who redeemed the card in the first place. I had a hard enough time trying to get them to replace my missing rookie auto from a '10 hobby box of chrome.
Still, it's weird that someone would pay real money for these. -I know that the '01 Pujols auto redemptions sell for a pretty penny, but that's a different story (and era, etc.).
Always looking for Verlander, Cabrera, Maybin, Mike Stanton (marlins), and Avisail Garcia.
