i'm guessing most people store cards the same way.

All decent singles in penny sleeves, anything half valuable in penny sleeve and toploader, hi end cards in one touch and team bag.

Folders are fine for cheapish cards, i dont put anything hi end in a folder as thats less protection than top loader even.

Singles and low end stuff thats in penny sleeves or toploaders kept in storage box, graded cards kept in graded card storage box.
