I just saw it, my god, to think I was out at $2,000. As for the last bid I was a snipe bid.

I know as well I guess time will tell but that could put me down to 4 left. I believe you and John are the 2 people I know who has it.

Yep I even asked Paul if I could have this one as I passed on the Invered Atomic for him. But guess not and to think I could of had it for under $200.00
He told me if he finds another one while I am gone he will buy it and hold it for me so hopefully another pops up.
As much high hopes I had on getting it and did you see the next higest bidder was for $105.15. It was me against Paul and he beat me. Paul first was lucky to get the Mirror Gold in a huge Derek Jeter lot for $6,000.00 and he traded and sold me two of them and Sold Doug the other one that I needed as he thought I needed the Zenith Artist Proof that I already owned.

The final price on this auction doesn't surprise me at all. It is a lot, but you have the most sought after 90's card of the most popular player in baseball. Wish you has won it Chris, I'm sure you'll get one eventually. And yes, this card only books for $500, but all player collectors know that the book value on these is ridiculously low. I would have no problem paying 4x-5x book value for the Larkin if it ever comes up. Hope you get the next one Chris Smile
Need the following for my 1986-1995 Barry Larkin collection
(Currently have 477/479):

88 Score Samples #72
95 UD Electric Diamond Gold #405

Please send me a PM if you have any of these!
Interested in buying any other Larkin cards that I don't have as well!!

It's insane but in line with what any mega-star mid-late 90s rarity at this point. Look at any Kobe, Jordan, Griffey type card from sets like this and you'll see that this is a trend lately. A Kobe Leaf Metal Gems pulled over 30K a few days ago. It's awesome to watch this.

And Chris you have to remember, not only is it a rare card, but it was also graded a BGS 9. This just adds to the scarcity and value of the card.

Man this is your second post I have seen like this. You really need to realize Beckett is a guide. It is not the law or final judgement on a cards worth. There are only 30 of these cards from the era when the 1/1 did not exist. There are way more than 30 hard core Jeter collectors out there who intend to own every card ever printed of him for the beginning until 1996.

The Beckett is so far from accurate on the values of rare 1990s cards. They never update the guide on these cards.

I was once told Beckett believes these sales to be false truth. If every one of those cards surfaced they believe it would sell for a whole lot less so they will not adjust the guide to account for these type sales. This makes some sense, but the reality is they will not all ever surface.

Most are tucked deep in collector's private collections where they will stay. Many are owned by wealth enough people they have no need to sell. I think Beckett's belief is that if they adjust the guide then more will surface causing the price to drop back to reality.

Again, there is some truth to this I think. What I feel would help is to simply make reference t the sales of cards like these for a guide of what people should expect. Beckett used to do this and for whatever reason stopped.

Y'all are not even sure that all 30 have even been uncovered. Are you?
