Best NPB Chrome Pack Ever? Eat it, Hobby
Best NPB Chrome Pack Ever? Eat it, Hobby
"Retail sucks, buy hobby" they said.
OK, I'll play along.
Went to the LCS yesterday, bought a few PC singles and passed up a few more to buy four HOBBY packs of the new 2024 Bowman.
For the low low price of $14 per pack.
So for $56, my two best pulls (by far) were a Max Clark chrome insert of some kind and a paper base card for my Tigers PC.
Again ... for $56.
Fast forward to this morning, I'm in Walgreens and see they have six of the two-pack blister packs left showing 2021 Topps Chrome Nippon Pro Baseball as the top pack.
They were $7.99 each and also included a pack of 2023 Topps Series 1.
I was hoping to pull two specific players from the NPB packs - current Dodgers star Yoshinobu Yamamato and future MLB prospect Roki Sasaki.
Was thrilled to pull this as the second card in the fourth pack ...
Very clean copy of Mr. Sasaki.
But, two cards later, the last card in the pack ...
Purple refractor of Mr. Yamamato, numbered 030/299!
Nothing of real note in the regular 2023 Topps packs, but these six blisters were $7.99 each.
So that's $48 plus tax for you sports fans scoring at home.
Still less than four worthless HOBBY packs of Bowman.
