I saw that!  Those happened back in December and are still showing up!!  Once the Hot List comes out, it takes Beckett at least 2 weeks to catch up.

December 1998 issue of Beckett Monthly had both Mariners Ken Griffey Jr and Alex Rodriguez on Hot List (#3 & #4).
Wow, that's hitting the way back machine!

If I remember correctly, A-rod and Griffey were both on the cold list around the same time when they were with the Rangers and Reds, respectively.

I believe much of what Beckett is ranking is sales volume. That is why Topps Series 1 is far and away #1. It has a massive print run and people are still opening it. Therefore it is outselling literally everything else in the market in terms of volume. It's not that it's the best product, or the product people care the most about. Just that they are buying more of it than any other product.

It's amazing that that Mariners team didn't win at least one championship.

They had all the pieces except shut-down closer.

Don't remind me of the Heathcliff Slocumb trade!

Now I'm trying to think if the Mariners have ever had a great closer?

Like, one of those 40+ saves per year guys?

Not according to the historical stats...
Eddie Guardado was there after Griffey left.

Kazuhiro Sasaki had three great years in a row, save-wise ... 37, 45 and 37 from 2000 to 2002 ... but Griffey joined Cincy in 2000 I believe.
