1993 SP hobby boxes

1993 SP hobby boxes
This evening I decided to relax and look thru what Dave & Adam has in way of boxes from back in the 1990 - 2000 era. 1993 Leaf and even the 1991 and 1992 boxes are a favorite, along with others. I got to the 1993 SP hobby boxes and I needed a fork lift because my mouth dropped a long way. They had 2 boxes listed, the first box had a price of $10,999.95 and the second box (a Reed find) was listed at $12,499.  I know what's driving the price, the Derek Jeter rookie. Aren't the buyers taking a huge (I want to type a HUGE risk) risk on these. Seems to me graded 10 cards run about $13,000. I haven't checked for maybe 2 months, has the Jeter risen this much in this time? I'd love to hear some comments from you all.

The last 9.5 BGS went for 35K so I would say a 10 would be about 50K. But in today's market it could go over 100K! Usually you get at least 1 Jeter Sp in a box. Don't forget the Platinum Powers are very desirable too. There was a sale on Ebay at 1K for a base not graded in February but that was an anomaly.

Wow, I must be way behind. I had no idea it could be upwards of $35K!!!! I think I looked early this year (mid January) and it was listed at $10K.

Even boxes of 1993 Score and Select are getting close to $200!

Just wait until Jeter gets inducted this $ummer... Cool

Did they not have a HOF ceremony last year? Retired in 2014, 5 year waiting period thru 2019. Last year & a half has not been good for me.

They have not had the ceremony because of THE VID.  Supposed to happen in July this year.  We will see.

I am cleaning out old boxes and things. Trying to sort, organize and sell off what I have.

Individual cards through the 70s, into the 80s dead era. However, for some reason in 93, I must have bought a few packs or something.., I have 2 Jeter and 2 Chipper Jones cards in sleeves, and, an actual sealed box of 93 SP. Go figure.

Man, I can't even bring myself to pay a couple hundred bucks for the chance to pull a 2004 Molina RC. I'd have to hit a huge lottery before I'd even consider dropping thousands of dollars on a single hobby box.

Not a Jeter fan by any means, but I stumbled upon a couple Jeter '93 RCs when I sorted thru some shoe boxes.
I'm thinking once the price to get a card graded levels off I may send it to BGS.
