Marc Gasol, who was the massive deadline addition of the Raptors who gave Toronto the best frontcourt in the playoffs and helped propelled them to the title was almost a Charlotte Hornet. However, Toronto was able to swoop in after the trade fell apart because Gasol was going to expire at the end of the season as opposed to picking up his player option for this year, as he did in Toronto. This is according to Rod Boone, Charlotte's reporter at The Athletic, in his latest mailbag.
