The Only Way to Stop a Predator Is With a 'Glove' Save!
Born on June 19, 1980 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Dan Ellis was the 60th overall draft pick in the 2000 NHL draft. Dallas selected him after a fine year with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. After completing his collegiate career with the U of Nebraska-Omaha, Ellis transitioned to the pros in 2003-04. Ellis split his first season evenly between the ECHL and AHL posting identical numbers in each league before "it" happened. On February 18, 2004, Dan Ellis was given the nod in goal for the Stars and stopped 25 of 28 shots in a 4-3 victory over Los Angeles. The lockout year saw Ellis play for the Hamilton Bulldogs and for the following two seasons, Ellis became the starter for the Iowa Stars. After Dallas gave up on him, the Nashville Predators signed him in 2007-08. There, he quickly established himself. His first season with them, he appeared in 44 games, recording a 23-10-3 record with 6 shutouts, a 2.34GAA, and a 0.924% save average. On top of that, he also established the Nashville Predators shutout streak record at just over 233 minutes. After two additional seasons with the Preds, Ellis was traded to Montreal before being signed by Tampa Bay. Midway through the season, after posting average numbers, he was traded to the Anaheim Ducks. Ellis spent the remainder of the season and 2011-12 as backup for the Ducks, posting respectable numbers. The following season, he was signed by Carolina before Dallas re-signed him in 2013-14. That same season, Ellis was acquired by Florida in the deal that saw Tim Thomas go to Dallas. In 14 games over two seasons with the Panthers, Ellis became a free agent before being signed by Washington in 2015-16. Ellis spent the entire 2015-16 season in the AHL and did not sign on with any team in 2016-17.

In his NHL career, Dan Ellis appeared in 212 games, recording an 87-79-0-18 record with 15 shutouts, six assists, a 2.79GAA, and a 0.906% save average. In seven playoff games, he recorded a 2-5 record with a 2.87GAA, and a 0.928% save average.

The piece you are looking at right now is a 2007-08 Dan Ellis game used glove used while with Nashville. This easily photomatched piece was used in the entire pre-season, as well every game up to and including November 29, 2007. It was worn in his 2nd career NHL games, 2nd to 6th NHL victories, as well as his career's 1st and 2nd shutouts.
