1997 Pinnacle Certified Mirror Black?
Hi Folks,
I'm not sure, but would this 1997 Pinnacle Certified card be considered a "Mirror Black" Card?

If so, does anyone have an idea of the value? I've checked most everywhere.

Thanks!

No, that just looks like the regular card. The 1997 Pinnacle Certified Mirror cards have a refractor like finish to them. They are also easy to distinguish as they say Mirror "color" on the front and back (see the photos below to see the a Mirror Red version for reference).

All I can tell you is that there scarce I believe only 18 have ever been seen and a guy named George owns 10 of them. They are not sure if the whole set was made or just a sheet. It has a greenish tint when looking at it in the light is what George told me. I know commons have gone for $300.00 to $400.00 dollars so if you have one it's worth quite a bit. It is 1 of the 25 I am missing from 1997 and soon to be 24 as I was the winner of 1997 Studio Hard Hats Samples #13 Derek Jeter for $333.00 shipped and of the other 24 cards 5 are 1 of 1's and 4 are printing plate the are all 1 of 1's with different variation of each with the front and back. So I would honestly move my number down to 16 and soon to be 15 left as those others I doubt I will ever see.

ITs kind of unknown how many of each in 1997 were made??? I keep seeing some listings on ebay about a 97 Mirror Gold I need and they put: about 30 made, so about 30 doesnt mean that 30 were made it kinda leaves it out there

What are the other color variations and what are they serial numbered to?

I was lucky enough to pick this one up.

That is an awesome card, but it's from the Totally Certified set, which is actually a different set than the one in the original post. The Totally Certified cards were all serial numbered, however the regular Pinnacle Certified cards were not serial numbered.

People make the mistake all the time as only the Totally Certified Platinum Gold are numbered to 30 as far as the Pinnacle Certified the number is not really known but it's more than 30. I believe I seen a picture on another site where a guy had accumulated 50 plus McGwire's and took a picture of them all to prove there were more than 30 made. Beckett doesn't state there were 30 made either. But as far as the Mirror Black beckett says this

This set was an un-announced very scarce parallel version of the Pinnacle Certified base set, probably the result of a few test sheets being cut and inserted by mistake into packs. These cards give off a bright green reflection when placed in direct light, but are silver with black print when placed away from light. It is not known for sure if all 150 cards exist. No pricing is available due to the scarcity of the cards.

So there might not be a full set out of this and only 18 have been found in 18 years. I am sure this will be on my Jeter want list forever as I don't see it ever showing up and if it does I will not have enough money to buy it. I would have to get lucky and but it as a common from someone who doesn't know or understand about these cards. But I would not buy boxes looking for it either because it would be a crazy rare pull for any player.

... And I'm confused?
The whole Pinnacle certified mirror back, gold, yellow and platinum have my head spinning. Non-serialized cards with 'estimated print runs' always has me a little confounded ...
And Chrissa19978 totally confused me about a guy name George who owns 10 Of some card and nothing after that made much sense to me, except some sample hard hat Jeter card for (pd $300+ )that was mentioned, but really not sure why.
To the OP, the Andreu Jones card is a nice, cool card. That platinum Chipper Card looks pretty sweet, too. And obvious why there's some jealousy involved with that. Smile

I guess if I saved used tinfoil and used tea bags instead of old comic books and old baseball cards, the difference between a crazed hoarder and a savvy collector is in that inherent value.
