I got an e-mail today from Topps asking me to vote for the player to be card #1 in the Topps 2016 base set. I thought that was a good idea. I remember back in the 1960's when I collected as a kid that card number 1 was usually a star player. And the cards ending in 00 and 50 were also star players. I would like to see them go back to that numbering system again.

I would have voted for him but I think he was number 1 already... Not sure....
Yes he was just checked in 2014. I voted for Buster Posey being a Giants fan...
Great choice in Buster Posey.......my vote will be for Clayton the K (since Trout can't be used).

I'd make it the World Champion team card like they did in the early 1970s.
My Huge Wantlist: http://www.zeprock.com/WantList.html
I read an article not to long ago about how Topps screwed things up when they went away from the stars being numbered 100,200...etc... and lesser stars being 50, 150, etc... I hope they do bring that back. Was easy as a kid seeing those numbered a certain ending number they were stars.
As far as #1, it's a no brainer guys, Jake the Snake Arrieta, this years CY Young winner!!! (Of course I'd go with a Cubbie) Jake needs some well deserved recognition IMO.
If The Cubs actually win the world series I think it should be Theo.
Carlos Correa or Bryce Harper, orYelich or, Y. Molina, or, Puig, orMiggy Cabrera, or Mad Bumgardner, or Paul Goldschmidt, orMaz Scherzer, or Buster Posey or Andrew McCutchen or, Clayton Kershaw.
Any one of these guys would get my vote this year. |
