1997-1998 Topps Finest Masters Gold Refractor Question
Hi All,

I'm new to the Beckett message boards. I started collecting again last year after not having collected cards since my teen years. I am currently collecting Michael Jordan inserts. That brings me to the thread topic. I was looking to acquire an MJ 1997-1998 Topps Finest Masters Gold Refractor (serial numbered /289) and came across this link -

http://www.michaeljordanmarket.com/2013/...-289-scam/

It basically says that those cards with offset serial numbers are fake foil stamps. I was wondering if anyone who is an authority on MJ inserts could speak to this claim. I question the article because I don't know who actually authored it, and because I know that several other insert sets that use serial numbers, like Rave/Super Rave, have serial numbers that aren't same size. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Seems like a legitimate article. The key is that the serial numbers are not only different sizes but that some cards have different sized/font serial numbers than other cards, which should never happen if the cards came in packs.
Collecting John Stockton, Karl Malone, Ivan Rodriguez, Gary Carter & UF player rookie year cards.  Plus Jedd Gyorko rookie and prospect cards.
