Suggestions regarding how to go about...

Suggestions regarding how to go about...
selling off my late uncle's collection.

I'm usually in the FB section, so most of you may not know me.

My uncle recently passed and wanted the proceeds from his collection to go to the Michigan Humane Society.

I have nearly every Topps set from 1970~2012.

As you can tell, I'm overwhelmed with the amount that I have to move.

Would you guys suggest selling the lot as a whole or parting sets/individual cards out?

Where would you suggest selling such a large lot?

I appreciate any input guys, thanks for your time.

dont sell as one huge collection

do try to sell on criagslist first (no fees)

however: if 100% of going to the humane society, you can designate that in your ebay auction setup, and ebay wont charge you fees eother (though missionfish does take a small cut)

Thanks Jacoby! I was hoping to hear from you as I know you do quite a bit on the selling end.

So if I sell individually, do you think it's wise to sell as sets?

Craigslist, huh.. Never crossed my mind for cards.

And yes, all sales will go to the MHS. I didn't know I could set up any charity through ebay though. I'll have to check that out.

1st, sorry for your loss.

33 years of sets is alot. Don't sell it all as a single lot, keep the sets together and sell them that way. You start breaking them up....it will become a full-time job sorting and selling them. Best of luck! (jacoby gave great advice as always)

sell as a set for one reason most people wont have the $$ to buy all the sets. 2nd reason you would get more $$ selling the sets individually.
you can get a Beckett and call the card man and see what he would give you for the complete collection also. I never dealt with him to see if he is fair or not.
