Empty Display Boxes?

Empty Display Boxes?
So, just doing a nightly scan for steals on the auction site, and I came across an empty display box of Topps from the 50's. It's just a box. It's selling for over $100. Am I missing something here?

I saw that box, I expect it'll go much higher. It's an empty display box from 1958. Not many of those around.

About a month ago or so an empty 1952 Topps wax case was listing at over $10k I believe. I think Dave and Adams had it and were selling it. Again, it was just an empty box. I can see someone being interested in it as an oddball pickup but that price was ridiculous in my opinion. IIRC it had multiple bids on it driving it that high too so there was some demand.

Dave and Adam's had it at $40,000, but it's the only known surviving case (empty or full) of 1952 Topps. That is, unless someone can find the remnants of the ones laying in the bottom of the Atlantic.
