How picky to be on a COA?

How picky to be on a COA?
Ok so we all know (off the top of my head) Tristar, DNA, and JSA are the go to people for authenticated autographs in our hobby. That said, just how particular is the general hobbyist on this?

I'm staring down a pair of autographed gloves of an under the radar non-skill position player on the Saints roster for $100 on Ebay. Because they're not just another "card" I've been given permission to buy them by my book keeper (fiancee') assuming I can convince her they're legit and not Jim Bob from Baton Rouge signing stuff.

The item comes with a COA from a card shop I've never heard of. I'm 50/50 on it. If it was Drew Brees, Mark Ingram, etc... I'd be throwing red flags all over the place. But it is a guy that no one knows outside of Saints Nation. There's almost no real incentive to pull a stunt like that (other than $100). Basically if you're resorting to forging autos of linemen, specialists, and defensive players you're doing it wrong.

However in 2012 you can never be too sure about anyone anymore.

Just wanted to get a feel of the pulse from you guys.

id just try and get some more info from the store. a lot of stores have autograph signings so it seems like it could be pretty legit.

I collect a less then known player and I have the same problems arrise. None of his Signed mini's come from a well know authentication company. For me I don't mind taking a chance cause they come cheap but at a $100 you might want to ask for a photo of the player signing the gloves.
