89 UD Griffey is too wide for card holder?
I recently purchased one off of Ebay. Are there really fakes and if so does this sound like one?

Probably miscut

Fake, miscut are both possibilities.

Also, there's a cheap brand of toploaders out there that are slightly narrower than standard UltraPro ones...I generally just toss them when I get them, as it's nearly impossible to fit a normal card + sleeve into it. Perhaps try a different top loader?

Am I wrong, or are there some toploaders out there designed for older/vintage cards that are a little wider?

I appreciate Chicago players that begin competing within the city's sports organizations and stay with these teams throughout their careers.

I am sure there are, I have some penny sleeves for vintage cards so I believe there has to be top loaders too. I also know that the vintage cards will fit in regular top loaders as long as you do not use a penny sleeve (taking a chance at putting scratches on the surface though).

My 56 Topps Cardinal team set, for now, I put into penny sleeves and then into card savers and then bundled them into a graded card sleeve.

Ultra Pro does sell vintage top loaders and vintage soft sleeves. My LCS ordered them for me.

Interested in EX-MT or better pre-'56 Cardinals, '53 Bowman Color & '74-'78 Topps.
