Anybody know if this card was issued as a redemption for an autograph version? Beckett's database does not list an auto version... there are a ton of people that have this card marked available for trade.

I am second guessing the seller, because of all the 90's autos he has. The Kobe caught my eyes.. trying to figure out if it is legit or not...

Skybox did have an auto redemption card in 96-96 z force, there was a 10 card redemption set for a complete 1996-97 Skybox Autographics set that contained all the autograph cards released in skybox series 1 and 2 there were 96 cards, Kobe was not among them, the cards have white borders down the left side for the auto's.

Counterfeits do exsist.

And I quote here;

The counterfeit cards feature no chipping on the edges, a lighter color of black on the back, a fuzzy copyright line and in general a poor autograph, These do however have the skybox logo stamped on the card

I've asked the same question and the answer I got was that this was supposed to be a Buy Back that never happened due to the Fleer Bankruptcy. Personally I would stay away from these cards unless they had been submitted for Auto Authentication. The Skybox Seal of Authenticity could be easily be replicated IMO.

Thanks. I've stayed away. It was too good to be true for all those 90's inserts. I've seen somebody online a few years back that had the skybox seal stamp for sale. I can't remember what site I seen it on.

The seller that has the kobe auto also has Karl Malone autos.. but he ended them early & relisted them... kinda fishy... the kobe is still out there along with the infamous ScoreBoard autos... I would stay away!
