Pack Wars Pick-ups FT

Pack Wars Pick-ups FT
Made the 45 mile trip to my "LCS" to play in thier pack wars for the first time Saturday nite. I had a pretty good night Smile

Anyway, all are FT for a few days. If I don't find anything I like, then off to the Bay with 'em.

The way they do it at my LCS is you "buy-in" for $40, which gets you $50 in play money to buy packs with. The shop owner puts out a wide selection of product. Multi-sport, multi price level. All unopened boxes.

Then the participants order is randomly selected. Whoever's turn it is gets to pick the product that will be opened that round (and if its a product with a boxtopper, the person gets it). They then call out either a stat, or a team or division (ie, AFC North) or postition...whatever they want. Everybody gets a chance to buy as many packs as they want to with thier "play" money, and then you open them.

Now, for each card in your pack(s) that matches what was called, you get a ticket that enters you into the prize drawings at the end of the night. Plus, you get 5 tickets for each relic or auto you pull. For example, my dual auto/patch got me 20 tickets (actually 21, as NFC north teams is what was called that round).

If the box didn't sell out on the first rotation, and all the hits weren't pulled, another round is played from that box. If all the hits were pulled, the owners offers up the packs later at a discount for set builders.

The process is then repeated with the next person picking the product they want to open......

If you use up all your "play" money, you can continue to play, you just have to use real money to buy the packs now. For example, I spent $50 more on top of my intial $40, for a total of $90 for the night.

At the end of the night, the owner draws from all the tickets won during the wars for prizes. Mostly packs and what not, but its a nice bonus at the end of the night.

Some places play a 'cut-throat' version where you just call a stat and the winner gets all the cards opened that round. We don't play it that way, you keep what you open.

Hope that helps.

Check me for the Leshoure Williams. Its a neat patch - don't care for the players but Id like a nice patch card like that for the collection.
I collect Mickey Mantle, Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Michael Jordan.

I think 12-15 world best, a box normally will get emptied in one round that way. And the amount of total rounds help keep you from spending way to much. In fact, if you figure $4 a pack, if you only bought 1 pack per round you could play all 12 for you're original buy-in.
Will check you guys when I get home tonight.
