1994-95 Upper Deck SP Insert ?
#1
Question
1994-95 Upper Deck SP Insert ?
I'm sorting through the Roy cards I got last week and adding them to spreadsheet when I came across something strange..to me anyways.

I have 38 1994-95 Upper Deck SP Inserts, not the die-cut version. Yeah I got doubles, but there it was a 325 card lot and for the most part when there are doubles its 2-4 cards, not 38 lol.

My question is were there Bronze/Gold inserts for these cards? I have about 30 of them that look identical and 3 to 4 that look like a bronze color and 3 to 4 that look to have a gold color. I looked on Beckett, Check out my Cards, and The Trading Card Database, but didn't see anything indicating a subset of sorts with different colors.

Here are two photo's. I think there is a very noticeable difference between the three cards:

I don't believe there were different versions. I have a few like that as well. I think what we are looking at is another fine example of UD quality control, the early years.

That would be a logical explanation since I couldn't find any info indicating otherwise. I just wanted to be sure though and I couldn't think of a better place to get an answer than on these boards!

I live in Clinton. The closest city is Utica which about a 5-10 minute drive. Syracuse is 45 minutes to the west. Depending on what part of Syracuse of course because it's a rather large city.

For the Roys there is only 1 verson. Just depends on how long the card has been in a pack or out of a pack is why the different colors. I think
hope that helps

I have been to Oswego more times than I count. 14 years of youth hockey brought me up that way plenty of times and two of my best friends and a g/f at the time went to SUNY Oswego so I spent a lot of time there lol

There is a shop near my house, but they have only early 90's hockey stuff that be put out when he opened the store in 1994. The only thing I have bought from him is the cardboard box card holders. Another place a few towns over has some packs and boxes of hockey cards, but not much in the way of singles. He does have penny sleeves and heavy top loaders though which the other guy doesn't have.

I've never actually been in that store, but like them on Facebook and plan on stopping there today after work to get some more top loaders.

I agree - it is nice to have another CNY'er on the forum!

there was a few good shops for wax... but one of them closed up and the other doesn't carry enough, another one has some wax when it gets release then that is it, and there is 1 shop that carries alright in singles but no new hockey wax...

the Rochester shows are mostly in webster with 2 a year at MCC just south of Rochester

the curse show is by the fairgrounds... I haven't been yet but a few of my buddies been. http://www.cnypromotions.com/ is the web page
