RE: Hobby or Addiction?
Well, for me the first thing to do is to admit that I have a problem, sure I can say that I'm not addicted to it but, Isn't that the first thing an addict says! Sure I think to myself "I can quit at anytime" But I just haven't tried yet! Yeah, I'm a hobbyist. NOT!!!
I collect Emmitt Smith jersey and auto cards!!!

I used to buy worthless retail boxes thinking I would pull something. Every time i bust open the retail pack/bust.... I would feel so stupid...fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me..

Now, I have a "card budget" and use only that for cards.

Watch this short 2 minute video for a good laugh...

AMEN to that, i figured out quickly that if u take the 80-120 dollars u spend on buying a box hoping for that sweet "pull" its cheaper just to take that 80-120 and just buy the card that you are hoping to pull. And yupp I give myuself a budget.

RE: Hobby or Addiction?
I would say a little of both. It used to be more of an addiction but now it is more of a hobby.

RE: Hobby or Addiction?
For me its rather unique. After quitting collecting over 10 years ago i finally have come back to the "hobby" that i love so much. However i have had another addiction during that time span. Smoking cigarettes. So now i have either cigarettes or football cards.

I am gonna try my best to do football cards, which hopefully wont kill me or make me a weezy old man. Its gonna be tough.

...I remmeber when i was in school....I would always some how flip to a blank page and start wrting out a list of cards i want and how much they were, which ones i could get.
Sometimes times in class i would think....I wonder if i won this card, since the auction would finsh while i was in class.
