2011 Bowman Chrome 5 Case Break and Contest Thread [CONTESTS CLOSED]
#46

RE: 2011 Bowman Chrome 5 Case Break and Contest Thread
Contest is now closed. No entries after this post will be accepted. Good luck all!
Case #1, Box #1

Prospect refractor /500: Cory Riordan
Blue refractor /150: Adrian Beltre
Xfractor USA U18 auto /299: Troy Conyers
Orange refractor prospect auto /25: Hunter Morris

Comments: Okay, I’m already enjoying the variety of this product. Nothing new or special about the base chrome or prospect chrome cards, but there are so many inserts and parallels that there is almost always something interesting in a pack of four. For example, aside from the numbered parallels & autos listed above, I also got three Bowman Chrome Futures cards (one of which was an unnumbered refractor) that are die cut, two Bowman’s Best Prospects cards bearing interesting and distinctive design, and three 2001 Throwback cards, in addition to four base veteran refractors. Topps clearly went to some effort to make the break an interesting experience, and I appreciate that. BTW, 22 base veteran chrome & RC cards in a box, so completing a base set will be challenging, requiring at least a case. A refractor set of veteran & RC cards should require about 5 cases. I don’t think we’re looking at much more refractor color (blue, gold, orange, red) than we saw in 2010.

Oh, and nice auto hit in the very first box (first pack, actually). I’m going to defer my grades for now but I’ll come back and insert them after I get a feel for this product. Still, Morris is likely the contest winner. Nobody picked Morris, so unless I get another orange or better, the first contest will come down to Carpenter’s pitch count.

Grade: A+
