The league sells superstars - but the price of superstars is going up. Ironically, this might well make things more competitive since the salary cap makes assembling a star team impossible. Quite simply, teams are going to have to win with their quarterbacks on the rookie contracts. Or teams are going to have to have a quarterback like Brady who is willing to take a discount to win more (which is the real secret of the New England dynasty - Brady was always underpaid)
