I started collecting because I was a teenage girl in love with Mike Piazza. (Let's face it, I still love the guy, but there's a lot more respect involved and a lot less twitterpatter). That was in the mid 90s. My interest has come and gone as I've gotten older and had other things to do, but ultimately I keep at it because it brings me a lot of fond memories of those days, where everything revolved around baseball and Piazza. Life was simple. I look thru my cards and can remember where I was when I got a lot of them, which brings back memories of family vacations, adventures, etc. I also remember who I got a lot of them from, and to still be friends with some of those people is outstanding!

If I spend too much time thinking about how much money I've invested, for almost no return, that definitely becomes discouraging. But I don't regret the time investment at all.
