The official BMB Error & Variation discussion and reference thread!
I know this is just a printing error, but I had a run of 2005 Topps Update packs that contained 1-2 cards per pack missing the majority of the gold foil used for the name and topps logo. The only foil visible is the drop shadow on the first letter of the name and topps logo. Here is an example of one:
