How can an unlicensed card, have an authentic autograph? I never understood it.

They are licensed by the Players Assoc. just not MLB. Also, all the authentication is doing is saying....we the (whomever) certify that we are authenticating that so & so signed. For all we know...Mike Trout's mom is signing all his cards (I kid........)

As Phillies_Joe pointed out, the authenticity statement is simply a statement from the card company that they are certifying the autograph to be signed by the player shown.
