Official "Black Friday 2013" Thread

RE: Official "Black Friday 2013" Thread
If you are a set builder make sure you check out COMC.com. Most sellers blowout their singles prices to move a bunch of stuff. I know I picked up about 150 of my set needs for around 40 bucks last year.

That's a good deal, but sportlots.com is the way to go for set building usually. Almost all base cards are $.18 or less and all cards on COMC start at $.25... assuming you're talking about base sets.

I've been cured. First time I've ever stuck to my guns and not bought boxes on Black Friday. In fact I didn't spend a single cent. I did go on Blowout.com and Dacardworld.com to check things out but the interest just isn't there for me.

I got a bunch of boxes from SteelCity and Blowout, and even picked up a couple of overpriced boxes directly from Panini as I am a sucker for the BF packs. I also got overwhelmed by the deals on COMC, and spent WAY more than I anticipated. All in all it was over $750 in boxes and $600 on COMC ($630 if you include the extra $5 they added every time I loaded in another $100 into my account). Not sure which I am more excited to get, the packages from COMC or the boxes of cards. The highlights from COMC include:
For my new and quickly growing Gyorko collection, #'d 23/25, 86/100, and 177/199.

For my UF collection, #'d 20/20.

Am I the only one disappointed by the Black Friday deals on boxes from the major websites? I've heard about this infamous "Blowout Cards Black Friday" for months, only to find okay deals or just a couple great deals that ran out almost immediately. There was a lot of hype without a lot of punch, but at least it helped me save money.

I shouldn't complain, I did get a couple really good deals. I'm especially pumped for the 2013 Hometown Heroes box from Steel City that I got for $68 with free shipping! They were over $110 a couple weeks ago. If I could afford it I'd snatch up one of the 2013 Leaf Memories boxes for $105. I've heard they have a really good ROI. SC also has 2013 Goodwin hobby boxes for $45 with free shipping... that's a helluva deal.

I was a bit disappointed in the box sales on Blowout and DACardworld, however I too found that SteelCity had some of the better deals and most of the deals on DA and Blowout were the same price or less on SteelCity.

The cat's out of the bag! Steel City is the place to go. Lesser selection but their boxes are almost always significantly lower than DA and Blowout even without specials. If DA or Blowout lowers prices, Steel City lowers theirs even more. I don't know how they do it. They offer free shipping if you order more than $25 worth and are faster at getting the packages out the door than any other company. I've pre-ordered boxes from them before and had them arrive on or the day after release day.
