Collecting Survey

Collecting Survey
I'm just curious about your collecting habits. Share if you want.

1. What year did you start collecting?
2. How many years have you been collecting? (this may differ from question one if you took "a break")
3. Who was your favorite player when you began collecting?
4. Who is your favorite player now?
5. Which player do you have the most different cards of and how many?
6. What is your oldest card? (scan if you want)
7. Do you collect for the love of the cards (just love baseball and cards) or for monetary reasons (an investment)?

My answers:
1. I started collecting in 1970.
2. I never stopped so 2012 is my 43rd year of collecting.
3. My favorite player in 1970 was Carl Yastrzemski.
4. My favorite player now is Albert Pujols.
5. I currently have 2463 different cards of Ken Griffey Jr.
6. My oldest card is a 1911 T205 Gold Border #89 C.L. Herzog.
7. I collect because I love baseball and collecting as many different cards of all my favorite players. Any value they have is just a bonus.

I collect Hall of Fame baseball player cards and cards of current and retired superstars.

RE: Collecting Survey
1) I think I started collecting in 2003.
2) If I started in 2003, then 9 years.
3) Namar Garciapara, but then he was traded.
4) Kevin Youkilis since his MLB debut. He hit a home run in his first MLB game, so he became my new favorite. I was already a fan of him from watching him play in Pawtucket. Everyone thought I was stupid for making him my favorite, but look who's laughing now haha.
5) Kevin Youkilis- 362 unique, 537 including doubles (see sig for updates)
6) 1955 Bob Keegan (I won this from the Million Card Giveaway)
7) I just like collecting because it is fun and I love the sport.

I apologize for the hijacking, but I take umbrage to the notion that loving the history would naturally make one a Yankee fan...

But it is typical...lol

Nomar was my favorite too during his career with the Red Sox and I stopped aggressively collecting him when he was traded too. I currently have about 1500 different Nomar cards.
I collect Hall of Fame baseball player cards and cards of current and retired superstars.
