THE BEST ROOKIE CLASS EVER?
#41

RE: THE BEST ROOKIE CLASS EVER?
cant base it on HOFers yet. 2004 isnt qualified for that. but can you really suggest that in my list, 5-7 won't be HOFers?

roethilsberger, manning, fitzgerald, steven jackson, phillip rivers - won't be in the HOF? i'm not even going to touch the defensive player - jared allen? you kidding me!

modern era - 2004 is hands down the best so far.

Wait wait wait... So are we basing this on 1,2,3 year pro bowlers or are we basing this on HOFers and probably THE BEST of ALL TIMES in ONE YEAR?!
Cuz 89 had Aikman, Barry, Rison, Thomas, Deion, Johnston, I mean... guys that MADE YOU wanted to WATCH the GAME!!!
08 class... Jake Long, Flacco, my boy Matty, Ray Rice, Mendenhall, Charles, Mr.2K Chris Johnson, Darren McFadden, D Jack, J Stew, Talib, DRC, I'm sayin' 08 class got talent!

RE: THE BEST ROOKIE CLASS EVER?
I think that based on terms of probowl the 1993 class is what? one behind the 83 class? 7 HOFers sure! A lot of the 1993 class is just coming up for consideration though.

I think that there are at least 4 shoe ins from 1993 - Bettis, Strahan, Bledsoe, & Vanderjagt.

but who's to say right?

I do know that the 2004,06,08, and 2010 classes are far too young to tell right now.

RE: THE BEST ROOKIE CLASS EVER?
I am in no way saying that 89,04,07,08 are not great draft classes. I am not saying that even a little because there are great players in those draft classes. We are talking about the best draft class that there has ever been! 2008 was three years ago! your watching those players now. Can you really hold up Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco to John Elway and Dan Marino? If you say yes then it's pretty easy to toss your vote away. Is Chris Johnson even gonna play this year? He is holding out for QB money!!! If you have 1980-2011 football knowledge then there is no way your picking anything except 1983 draft class or 1981 draft class. I say again though, in ten years we can have this same conversation and I just may have to say that the 2008 draft class is the best ever and if it is true by then I would gladly say it is so.

Chris Johnson is the best thing that the Titans/Oilers have EVER had... Yeah, beyond McNair. Flacco, the best thang EVER besides Ray Lewis for Baltimore... Matt Ryan..... IF you don't live in ATL THEN DON'T SPEAK...
Elway didn't get his rings till he was in his thirties... Marino never got a ring...

Clearly your opinion is from a biased standpoint since I have to shut up about Atlanta, if you have done any convincing at all then that is surely it.

Chris Johnson
2008 - 251 attempts 1,228 yards
2009 - 358 attempts 2,006 yards
2010 - 316 attempts 1364 yards - didn't he say he was going to get 2500 yards?

Will they keep using him at a high pace and break him down? of course, that is why he wants his money right now.

Eddie George
1996 - 335 attempts 1,368 yards
1997 - 357 attempts 1,399 yards
1998 - 348 attempts 1,294 yards
1999 - 320 attempts 1,304 yards
2000 - 403 attempts 1,509 yards
2001 - 315 attempts 939 yards
2002 - 343 attempts 1,165 yards
2003 - 312 attempts 1,031 yards
2004 - 132 attempts 432 yards

And I think Warren Moon is the Icon of the Oliers, but that's just my opinion and I'm not going to tell you to shut up because your not from Houston or Tennessee. I like Matt Ryan and I think he will be the best Atlanta has ever had and will break any team records that Steve Bartkowski has, but don't forget Deion Sanders' five years there and he also played for the Braves. Keith Brooking was also an awesome Falcons player. I'm not even going to argue with you about Flacco. Good day.

RE: THE BEST ROOKIE CLASS EVER?
My opinion is the 1983 class. It's way too early for the 2008 class to be considered. IMO the 2004 class is the best so far this century. I think we are caught in the hype of the up coming season and what these guys are suppose to do from here on. Another thing that goes against newer guys is the fact that most runners don't get the entire load like in the past. I would love to see Johnathan Stewart get 300+ carries. Other than last year(7), there have been no more than 6 backs that received more than 300 carries in the past 5 years. In 2003 there were 13. Check their stats, they are silly. Most years before then there are 10+. Matt Ryan and Flacco have a chance to be really good, elite type QBs but 2004 has Eli, Rivers, fat head Ben and Schaub who got a 3 year delay. 2008 does have an absurd amount of runners that have all the talent in the world but right now we are simply speculating on what they can do. Kinda like me with Daniel Thomas this year. Smile

So if 1983 is # 1 and 1981 is # 2 then where would you place 1993? Just curious.

Haven't I already made enough enemies during this conversation?

RE: THE BEST ROOKIE CLASS EVER?
LOL i'm not trying to argue. I'm just curious what another fans perspective is. Obviously the jury is still out on how many HOFers will come from this class. I've just always considered it the best, being that I wasn't born until 1983.
