That is the one, BUT you do not owe me anything!!!

Ha ha, I am a bad man.  I should have exerted a little better quality control.  Maybe that was the best of all the Hands I got last year.  I do have to say that I think the centering of the 09 Draft product was pretty good on the whole.  As I was scanning today I saw very few instances of poor centering, and some examples of very, very good centering.

I already put together your shipment, but I'll think of some way to make it up to you.  I have a 5 case break of Bowman Sterling coming up, so maybe I'll add an extra contest in your honor.  The product is supposed to be live next week.  I'd be a lot more excited if my desk were anywhere close to clear, and if I was sure I had enough 800 count boxes for storage.  I know I have enough sleeves (I sleeve every Sterling card), and fortunately 5 cases of Sterling doesn't take up too much space in the boxes.

Case #10 Summary

25 Blue Draft
24 Base Refractors
Xfractors (12): Adam Dunn, Sean West, Christopher Lovett, Matthew Weaver, Jeff Stevens, Arquimedes Nieto, Andy Gonzalez, Casey McGehee, Jarrett Hoffpauir, Miguel Cabrera, Patrick Lehman, Josh Hodges
Blue Refractors (6): Luis Valdez, Jeff Manship, Derek McCallum, Kyle Blanks, Ichiro, Darin Gorski
Gold Refractors (3): J. D. Martin, Telvin Nash, Naoya Washiya
Orange Refractor: D. J. LeMahieu

Base Autos ( 8 ): Mike Leake, Matt Hobgood, Brad Boxberger, A. J. Pollock, Mike Trout, Chad James, Bobby Borchering, Randal Grichuk
Refractor Autos (4): Jiovanni Mier, Alex White, Tyler Matzek, Zach Wheeler
Xfractor Autos (4): Reymond Fuentes, Eric Arnett, Tim Wheeler, Jared Mitchell
AFLAC Auto: David Nick

Case Grade: C+
Comments: My two most extreme cases came at the end of the break.  Case #9 had exceptional value, and #10 was my weakest.  On the other hand, I still believe I got fair value for this case.  It's actually about the value I was expecting.  I didn't hit any colorful autos, and the AFLAC card was weak, but 17autos in the box with nearly half as parallels is solid value.

Comments: As you can see, obtained values are extremely close to expectations in every category, and machine perfect with non-auto xfractor, blue, gold, and orange, and blue draft.  I suspect the 1:11 listed for base refractors is a typo that should have read 1:12, just like blue draft.  Not only were the case figures extremely invariant, but the box figures were as well.  It was 2 to a box in more than 90% of the boxes.  I was short a couple of gold refractors over the entire break, but got it back in orange and red -- a fair trade.  I also nabbed the superfractor I had decent odds of pulling.

I was short in base autos, xfractor autos, blue autos, and AFLAC autos, but got most of them back in refractor autos and gold autos.  I was short an orange auto, but converted on the red auto I was 50-50 to hit during the break.  I believe I underperformed on the break relative to statistical expectations very, very slightly.  However, I believe I exceeded my outlay substantially.  At $53.33 per box delivered I got excellent value.  In my opinion, this product is a good value at up to $62 per box (delivered price).

Its value lies in the quality of its overall checklist, its density of autos, and its auto quality.  I have documented that the number of autos has increased over last year's product, but it's noteworthy that very few of the autos are duds that nobody wants.  It is a short, tight auto checklist.  Nobody is a hyped uber-prospect but there are some very strong names on the list. Furthermore, there are no redemptions!  Likewise, there is nothing unhealthy about the non-auto checklist.  It continues to be a strong product with value all the way down to the base cards, and the WBC cards are a welcome addition. It's a tough economic climate, but the secondary market is still humming along with this product.  Job well done, Topps.  I give this break one of my best grades ever.

Overall break grade: B

Awesome -- thanks! I'd love to see more of your collection someday.

I should at least post that superfractor.
