as a seller using paypal i know your coverage is with a tracking number (delivery confirmation) but iv always heard that if the item is over 250 you need to use signature confirmation. is this true? what happens if you just use regular DC. iv sold many things before over 250 and only used delivery confirmation, but i will change if its a must... if all paypal requires is a number then i dont see where signature is actually REQUIRED. am i wrong?

No, I don't think it's required, but it does make the shipping more safe and you lower the risk of the whole "I never got my package" claim.

Yes - it is required. Any item over $250 has to be sent with signature confirmation in order to get protection from the seller protection policy.

Might help to do some searching on Paypals site, directly from the Seller Protection Policy:
Signature receipt for valuable items. For items with a value of $250.00 USD or more, in addition to proof of delivery, you must provide proof of signature from the recipient. This proves that the item was delivered to the buyer. Many carrier companies offer these proof of delivery services. |

If the buyer claims that the item was not received, the seller must be able to prove that the item was delivered to the address listed on the Transaction Details page by providing PayPal with a Viewable Online Proof of Delivery For transactions equal to $250.00 USD (or the equivalent in the currency of the transaction) or more in value, the seller will also need to provide a Viewable Online Signature Confirmation. |

i know iv received and sent many things over 250 that just had DC. either people do not know or they figure how can you lie when the tracking shows you got it. also i think that would be pretty lame if paypal has the tracking number and shows delivered and automatically would refund the buyer? ill now ship with signature just to be safe but i think thats lame. i also dont want to get into the mess where the buyer doesnt sign for it then what happens... will it get shipped back to me after a few tries

If it is over $100, I will normally send via Signature Required, just depends on how I feel about the buyer.
