When is enough enough?
#11

RE: When is enough enough?
I've grappled with this so many times it's crazy. I've collected every type of way. I had a huge Giants and Bonds PC that I had built up over the years. Then I decided I was tired of chasing those things, even though they are still my team and my guy.

I shifted to trying to prospect. That was a bad idea. I lost interest in that after a couple of bad chases. Moved on to just collecting RC's of stars from the 80's and beyond. Again, no interest.

Then my kid started getting hitting lessons from a minor leaguer and former 1st round pick. I found a Bowman card of his and showed it to my son before he started getting lessons. That got him excited about the lessons AND card collecting. So he and I made it a journey to collect everything of his that wasn't a 1/1 (we picked those up along the way). That is a collection that we still work on to this day even though we've moved away and no longer see him as a hitting coach. We're less than 60 cards away from having one of everything that isn't a 1/1.

I still needed a chase outside of that though, and I just started collecting every hot player on the planet. That got boring as well. So I've moved on to collecting refractors of the guys I grew up watching in all sports, and that one seems to be a winner...for the moment at least.

My youngest son is really into cards, so I'm hoping I'll at least have someone I can pass it down to that will appreciate it, but hey, you just never know. All I know is I'm enjoying the chase still and having some fun with my boys.
