RE: Strike outs
Herb Washington a college track star - Designated Runner for the A's - only ran the bases. Never played in the field or held a bat. Did steal 31 bases but was caught stealing 17 times. Had a -.5 career WAR over parts of 2 seasons.

Looks like he does have 1 card, 1975 Topps. Well technically 3 with OPC and the mini. (08-16-2022, 06:03 PM)pjrussell529 Wrote: That's crazy. Think this was the same year Charley Finley tried to introduce orange baseballs (1974 or 1975)

I'm not good with baseball history at all, but I thought St. Louis (maybe in the days of the 'Browns') have a player that was a 'little person' / midget (or whatever the PC terms is)? Did that player ever actually have a hit?
Wikipedia confirmed Eddie Gaedel St. Louis Browns. 1 plate appearance, walked on 4 pitches. Pulled for a pinch runner. |
