Paying Tribute to 90s Autos

My plights have been well documented here. I just opened 7 more boxes of 1991 Donruss over the weekend and didn't even pull and Elite insert!
I feel your plight man, I still fell victim to not passing up any 1991 to 93 Donruss boxes that I could get for 5 to 8 bucks apiece. But after years and decades of self torture I am happy to say I have pulled my very first one a couple of months ago getting the 1992 Elite Puckett. I was in shock at first just ripping through the packs and there it was, seriously never thought it would happen lol

I stop at 1996 because that was the year Donruss/Leaf started the Signature series with 1 auto per pack. However I do still pick up some of the later 90s autos that were tougher to get but not crazy expensive now. I will have to get some pictures at some point to share.
That is awesome, yes please share!

Last fall I opened an entire case of 1991 Donruss and didn't pull an Elite insert. That's how difficult those are!

My Favorite is the Donruss Signature Series Cal Ripken, I traded the Sandberg Signature series for it.

I wrote up a long post a while ago listing the approximate odds of finding one in a box. It's been a while since I looked into it, but I believe the odds were somewhere around 1 in every 3-5 cases. People have a misconception that since the cards are serial numbered to 10,000 that they will find one in every few boxes. However they aren't taking into consideration just how overproduced cards were in the early 90s. They literally made millions upon millions of every base card. So 10,000 is extremely rare by comparison.
Collecting John Stockton, Karl Malone, Ivan Rodriguez, Gary Carter & UF player rookie year cards.  Plus Jedd Gyorko rookie and prospect cards.
