This card is an obvious fake right? I thought cards this old were printed on white backgrounds, and only the image should have the halftone ink spots. It's a card someone is trying to sell locally, and they insist it's authentic. All the ink markings on the border of the card seem odd to me, but I don't have a graded one to compare it to. I do know that the cards dimensions are dead accurate to what they should be.
Please refer to the image links attached. Just looking for thoughts. I have not bought it, I'm sticking with the "if it seems too good to be true...... " mentality. But I don't know a whole lot about spotting fake vintage cards yet.

Buying a card that old that isn't graded seems like a huge mistake. I know that some fakes manage to make it through the grading process, but they are few and far between.

I wouldn't touch it.

Agreed.... I opted to stay away. But does anyone have any input on what qualities a fake may have? Am I wrong with my suspicion about the color on the edges. Look at the pictures. I'm just trying to educate myself for future reference. I know there's many years of knowledge in these forums.
