1 - 2016 Topps jumbo hobby in detail
First product of 2016 for me and most and I would say it’s okay. I’ve noticed a lot of collectors mentioning they like the borderless cards, not me. I seem to be the minority on this one but I like traditional Topps to have a border. Very typical of Topps is it is drenched in subsets and I did take note that some autographs are only available in retail so that may be a good thing for you retail busters out there. I also in general do not like the coin, pin, trophy, etc cards (what I call fake relic cards) but the logo pins this year are pretty sharp looking cards. Last year I was able to complete a full base set with a jumbo box, not this year, I was ten cards short. Correlation is okay. I ended with 64 base doubles and 2 insert doubles which I believe the inserts shouldn’t double when you have this many insert sets. Topps also premiered a “Laser” card that to be honest I’m not impressed with. Noticeably absent are the sparkle cards, did anyone hear anything about this? I noticed Beckett does not have a complete list of all the cards yet like the full subset of “Perspectives”. Also, Topps did not release a short print (SP) or Super Short Print (SSP) list. All I know is SP cards are a variation with the player wearing their camo uniform and the SSP are just photo variations, the code for SSP is: CMP017125. I scanned all I pulled from the jumbo box except the base. Thank you for the read and looking. All should be marked for trade unless Beckett hasn’t listed it yet like the SSP.

neat break! Double check the listings on the 65th anniversary buy backs I have seen multiple color stamps between silver, blue, black, and gold, so it may make a difference what color the stamp is, not sure as I have not broken any myself, or researched it much more than checking out the breaks. Like the perspectives subset, just wish they had not put so may words in the images to draw away from the awesome photos.
Looking for autos of these players as well as established stars and superstars.

Thanks for the heads up on the stamps. I had no clue in fact didn't even realize the two I posted were different colors.

I'm with you on this dislike/distaste for the Topps Flagship line being borderless. Looks too much like Stadium Club.
Your break wasn't too bad. I guess the laser card counts as a relic? I like it, but only because its Cano. Otherwise, not too sure about that booklet. Although, it would be a whole lot nicer if the Laser booklets were autographed!

I guess if I saved used tinfoil and used tea bags instead of old comic books and old baseball cards, the difference between a crazed hoarder and a savvy collector is in that inherent value.

That was a pretty good jumbo! The ssp's fall one every 250 jumbo packs or 4 cases. The laser cut cards are a nice inclusion this year i think. At least in your buyback you got Nolan!

FYI Adding to the box contents, Stamped Buybacks return with a 65th Anniversary logo and average two per hobby/jumbo box. Honoring the anniversary, the options include a mix of iconic buyback cards from the entire history of Topps. Rarity is determined by the specific stamp, with options such as Black (Standard), Red (Limited), Blue (Rare), Silver (Scarce), Gold (1/1).
Looking for ...
1)autos of Gwynn, Headley, Venable, as well as Chargers... Gates, and Rivers.
2) autos/gu'd of Baldelli, Zobrist, rare Red Soxs
3) HOF autos, game-used and #<50

What a bunch of visionless, tired old gimmicks.

Borderless? I remember that. It was called Stadium Club.

How many times do I have to see those same rehashed reprints of cards in a Topps set? What are those good for exactly? Trying to trick some 11-year-old that they are buying a Don Mattingly rookie in mint shape for a $1?
