No Fancy Titles. A 250th Win Jersey for the Museum!
Starting to sound like a broken vinyl now, but DON'T FORGET TO "LIKE" BRUCE C. GOALTENDING MUSEUM ON FACEBOOK NOW FOR ALL THE LATEST ADDITIONS AND MORE PHOTOS!

So, here is the second of four pieces waiting to be shared with the world. The last was a beautiful Jaroslav Halak game worn NHL debut jersey, today's is of an experienced and now retired goaltender.

Born on August 13, 1975 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Marty Turco was an outstanding talent out of the OJHL B league, and the University of Michigan. He was drafted 124th overall in 1994 and opted to complete University before turning pro. He joined the IHL for two seasons between 1998-2000 before finally getting his call in 2000-01. On October 10, 2000 Turco made his NHL debut against the Carolina Hurricanes (with Arturs Irbe in net). In that game, he stopped 17 of 22 shots in a 5-2 loss. Appearing in 26 games his rookie year, he eventually battled his way up to be the undisputed starter of the team by 2002-03, eventually posting 73 and 74 game seasons in 2003-04 and 2008-09 respectively. He played for the Stars between 2000-01 to 2009-10 before being signed as a free agent by the Blackhawks in 2010-11. Turco played a year as backup in Chicago before being acquired by the Bruins as a free agent for the 2011-12 season.

In his career, he appeared in 542 regular season games and he recorded a 275-167-26-40 record with 41 shutouts, a 2.36GAA, and a 0.910% save average, to go along with 22 assists. On top of that, he appeared in 47 playoff games, recording a 21-26 record with four shutouts, a 2.17GAA, and a 0.914% save average.

The piece you are looking at right now is a 2009-10 Third Set 1 jersey that was worn by Marty Turco. Among his most notable dates of game use was on December 11, 2009 against the Sharks in the 250th win of his career. It is definitively photomatched to 7 of the 10 games in which Turco played while wearing the third set jerseys that year. For the final use of the set on Jan. 14, 2010, a different third set jersey was worn by Marty, with different marks and stitching than the one seen here.

That's a great piece, from a guy I loved watching play. You're going to have a few jealous guys looking at you...
