OT: My New Hobby
Started with this....

Drew this out....

Heated up the other end and cut it with that little wedge in the anvil...

After it cooled a little....

Put a twist in the handle and drew out the tang some more.....

And here it is ... still have some work to do on the blade .... but pretty happy with my first attempt at a knife

Wow, that's pretty darn cool! I'm always envious of those that can create stuff like this! Wish I had some modicum of talent for it!

Not bad at all!

Is that 1095 stock you used? Probably would look really good leather wrapping the handle on that one, or are you gonna leave it bare?

Dunno?... went to the scrap pile and said... this looks like a knife Smile ... I do know its only mild steel and just used it to get the techniques down ... might spend a little time on finishing the blade on this one just because.... but I did order some damascus steel bars Smile so I may try a few more out of the mild stuff before it comes in from eBay!

Thanks!... I didn't know I could do it either! I just started hammering... its only my second class and my first attempt at a knife... take a class if there is one locally... plus I watched a guy on youtube make a similar one about 9 million times.... half the battle if seeing and learning what to do and the other half is 25% red lasers and 25% blue lasers.... lol .... obscure g.i. joe reference
