RE: Book value vs Fair value
Just remember that the person telling you what it's worth should never be the one judging the product's condition.
I appreciate Chicago players that begin competing within the city's sports organizations and stay with these teams throughout their careers.

I think DrMitchJ said it best by stating that a card is only worth what a person is willing to pay for it. I will only trade by BV on here & the other forums I belong to but as far as selling, a seller can only expect a certain percentage of a cards BV unless they are a hot prospect or that player gets hot during the season which may bring in at BV or even higher. Tell me if I didn't make sense please lol.
PC=Giancarlo Stanton, Kemp, Longoria, Tulowitzki, Griffey Jr, Pujols, Jeter, Randy Johnson, Helton, Biggio, Bagwell, Chipper Jones, Votto..
I trade for similar cards.

BV = trading units on the site for me, that is it.
As doc said, and my dad used to tell me when I referenced beckett as a kid, "things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them".
For the most part, BV is fine for trading. But there are cases where some cards are selling at or below low BV on fee-bay and the other card actually sells regularly for high BV or above on e-bay, despite having the same bv... In those cases I adjust my trading units or will reference sales.
BV can also be slow to update, and when a player gets hot and starts selling well, indefinitely account for internet sales their for an idea of value
PC Players: Alex Bregman and Christian Yelich. Looking for any and every I don't have.

Bv on here as well. If it has a Bv on here, I don't care for what it's selling for on ebay. Especially if it has the players number or if it's a 1 or the last number of a serial.

First, I agree on trading at BV for 99% of the things I trade for. With that being said there are definite problems with the Beckett BV on some cards. Check the 2008 Stadium Club Kershaws and try and explain it to me. The regular auto has a BV much higher than the Gold auto which is #'d to 50, and the Gold auto has a BV less than the non-auto, and the BV on the Gold and Blue auto's are much less than you could buy them for. Most of the time, for non-graded cards anyway, I think Beckett serves as a very good guide but there are exceptions and with scarce or hard to find items it's all about finding the person who wants it and can't find it anywhere else.
