My Top 10 Favorite Cards in my Collection (Post Yours)

RE: My Top 10 Favorite Cards in my Collection (Post Yours)
Awesome stuff people!

Here's mine in random order:

This is the first card I ever got. It fell out of my Corn Flakes box one morning in 1970 and I had no idea then how important that card would be. Now it's the first of over 350,000 in my PC.

This is the only 1/1 I've ever pulled and it just so happened to be my favorite player to collect at the time.

This is my favorite card of my favorite player from the beginning and the player I imitated all through my childhood in the 60s and 70s. In the late 80s I met him and did a TV commercial with him. He starred in it and I did the voice. That day he signed three cards for me.

I traded 10 Red Sox game-used cards for this one with a friend over in Scotland who is a Red Sox fan thanks to the TV show Cheers. It took a lot for this Red Sox fan to give up that many Red Sox game-used cards but it's Mickey "Freakin" Mantle and it's numbered 3/7.

I have his rookie card with Koosman but this one is a favorite because I traded my 10-speed bicycle for it to the local sportscaster in my hometown.

I like this card because it depicts a little kid who would go on to do amazing things. I think it's cool because it's the gold parallel.

I traded the first Autographed card I'd ever pulled for this one. The card I traded was of "The Shot Heard Around the World" signed on card by both Ralph Branca and Bobby Thomson. I had been pining for a Griffey Jr. auto for many years and finally got this one thanks to another member here.

The Mick makes a second appearance as this is probably the most valuable card in my collection. I have older cards but this one is in such great shape.

This is another 1/1 that I bought from another trader for $15. It is one of my favorite pitchers of all-time.

This is another favorite of the player that I recognize as the greatest player to ever play the game.

Is that ten already? Shoot! I had so many more I wanted to show you.
I collect Hall of Fame baseball player cards and cards of current and retired superstars.

Gotta respect the greatest rivalry in sports history! Worthy opponents make for legendary moments, and some of my teams greatest moments were against your team, and vice versa.
And before I learned to hate the Red Sox, one of my favorite non-yankee players when I was a kid was Rico Petrocelli. I knew his dad. He lived in Brooklyn and fed the pigeons in a park where my cousin and I played. (We were like 6 or 7?) I had no real concept of baseball reality but always asked when he was going to let Rico play for the Yankees, like he had a say in the matter. Smile

I guess if I saved used tinfoil and used tea bags instead of old comic books and old baseball cards, the difference between a crazed hoarder and a savvy collector is in that inherent value.

Mitch,

I'm not the biggest YANKEES fan, but you have to respect the player as well as the team. It's all baseball history if these guys didn't pave the way hard telling where this amazing game would be today.

Would we have the Griffeys, Jeters and trouts?

Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order.
Well, except these 2 ... My favorite cards of all. If I had to pick one over the other... That would be tough.

Okay, this is actually my favorite auto card, if I had to choose just one.

Bobby was one of my childhood idols ... Until Thurman came around. Hmmm, I don't have a great, favorite Munson card ... I have his rookie, but it's not my favorite.

RE: My Top 10 Favorite Cards in my Collection (Post Yours)
I just started collecting baseball again and don't have a top 10 or even 5 to show. Hopefully over the next 6 months or so I can add a few items of Griffey jr, Big Mac, Chipper Jones, Tim Raines, Roberto Alomar and other Jays and Expos. I have a tight collecting budget so not sure they will be anywhere near the incredible cards shown so far. Great thread, I love looking at all the amazing cards you guys have, wow!!!
Collecting Vintage OPC and older oddball and food issues as well as Maple Leafs.

Enjoy the hobby at it's purest form, treat it as you did as a kid.

Great story. Over the years I have met some terrific Yankee fans, in fact I've already have tickets to 3 games in NY for this coming season just happens to be for the other team that resides there. Yes, long ago I learned to hate the Yankees but as I learned more about the game, players, and history I learned to love the rivalry. Oh, and if you ever want to trade that card I know a perfect Red Sox collection it would fit into nicely!

When I say I hate Boston, I mean the team, not the players or the fans. I've had some of my best baseball discussions with educated Boston fans. Not to hijack this great thread, but a got offshoot would be Yankee fans post your best Red Sox cards / Boston Fans post you best Yankees cards. Maybe a few hostage exchanges could even take place. Heck, if Cuba/America prisoner exchanges can happen, why not? Smile

Look for the new thread ... Sorry Richard .... Back to your top 10 cards!

Ok here goes. I don't have the biggest and baddest collection by far, but I do have some cards that have some sentimental value and some that are just sweet.

IN NO PERTICULAR ORDER

So nothing to great about this card but like said above with another Jeter card it depicts a boy with passion that would later turn into one of the greatest of all time. And I like the shiney
[Image: e8ec08e7098320a9aafba707869ed787_zps0df29b43.jpg]

Another Jeter card I really like because I love die-cuts and this one is sweet
[Image: d3c7930eeb6df3365537c89ad61ef387_zpscdea46dd.jpg]

This card was in one of the last packages I ever sent my dad. He was never big into relics or autos. But was a huge Brewers fan. I sent him a package of about 100 Brewers and this. After he passed I quickly snatched this up and put it in my safe
[Image: 3ab04adc42bea942070d53f60e32db37_zps2358b3d8.jpg]

Superfractor.... what more can I say. I sold a lot of other PC cards for this and I have the whole rainbow
[Image: d72649097d276efb54136ac47b55569c_zpsdb599db8.jpg]

1989 upper deck and 1990 Topps. Best boxes I'll remember ever opening. Sitting there with my dad (who just past last year) hoping for Griffeys and Frank NNOF. Never got any but the christmas before he passed as he was leaving my house ( I lived in Ohio and him in va beach) I slipped this 89 Griffey in his pocket. Needless to say my mom said he cried for the first 100miles home. Another card that sits cozy in my safe
[Image: 637d94ed5b1a633c7a636161016d6c5e_zps6a6115f3.jpg]

Derek Jeter auto, only autographed card I have of him and it has a little pinstripe
[Image: aa68d4a6cdcd40fe031e0160b5ba8eb0_zps92c3f561.jpg]

This card was also in my dads collection. I always remember calling him talking about how many more Jeters I added to my collection and he would always remind me about this card. Now I cant even look at it without hearing his voice
[Image: 30b1f193ae251cb07c953e547864ccbb_zps827ca604.jpg]

Just picked this one up and I love the patches
[Image: 28e9068d43dda928a8e00c5ae8bdb4f0_zps9a87e89f.jpg]

Well there you have it. Only 8 but that's good enough. If I find some more I want to add I will. Thanks for looking
