Signed card question!

Signed card question!
I am going to a signing soon and had a question. Would getting a card signed increase or decrease the value of the card?

RE: Signed card question!
It depends on the card. Getting cards signed is great and easy when attending a game or other event where you aren't sure who you will be able to get sign, so you can carry a bunch of different players cards with you. However at a signing when you know who will be signing you have much better options. The cost for the signing will really drive what you want to get signed. Some signings have a tiered cost structure, so that a flat item (picture or card) is one price and a ball, jersey, helmet, etc is another price. In those cases it really depends on the cost for the item and if you plan to resell it than what the value of the signed piece will be worth. If you only have cards to sign and don't want to get a jersey, ball, or even photo signed then it depends on the player as to what card to get signed. Keep in mind that most new cards have a glossy finish, which makes it difficult to get a good signature that lasts.
Let us know which player(s) is going to be signing and what the cost is (if any) and we can help you decide better.
Collecting John Stockton, Karl Malone, Ivan Rodriguez, Gary Carter & UF player rookie year cards.  Plus Jedd Gyorko rookie and prospect cards.
