Thanks all for your responses. Just wanted a consensus on what people were doing as I remember reading some had an issue with just tapping it out causing surface scraping on some top loaders.

I assume you are using one of those wire cutter tools?
I hold the top loader like a ball squeeze a lil and you can pick out the penny sleeve
