@nickm: It would appear so haha. I thought that the finest gold might get a 9, but was surprised the hooperstars got an 8.5 (thought it would be an 8) and obviously was stoked about the scoring kings!

Yeah, I was shocked on the Scoring Kings too. I thought it had more damage on the edges/corners than the grade shows. I do not think I fully understand how hard they are at grading. IMO if you can see a couple marks on the edges for example it should get a mint grade....but I guess I am wrong. Lesson learned. I think I might need to just take more risks with grading. Send the cards and if they get a bad grade then replace them. But with some of the lower end cards its actually cheaper to buy them graded and just sell the raw copy. (see my thread and the Special Forces card I bought. It would cost me $10 to grade that card. I spend 14 to buy it graded. I can probably sell the raw card for about that same price or close to it).

Absolutely. I picked up a gem mint MJ for $7.50. The bv was only $6, but still cost me less than the grading alone, so why not?

I do dislike having ungraded MJs with any half-decent bv though. I have a few in the $30-$60 range that I don't want to send in b/c I know they'll grade poorly, like the 1998 hardcourt high court insert /1300 (wood cards, notoriously bad edges) or the 95-96 mystery finest borderless (terrible centering as most of those Finest cards back then). I have begun looking for graded copies of some of those to then sell the raw copies. Takin' a page out of your playbook!
I collect Michael Jordan, Mitch Richmond, and Ohio State players (football and basketball) in OSU gear. I strongly prefer 90's-era cards and use newer cards primarily for trade bait!

Very nice. Some cool cards. I personally don't do the grading thing, can't convince myself to spend the money grading in lieu of packs to open Smile I really have been thinking of sending in a bunch of my stuff for grading though.

buckunteer Wrote:I mean really, how does a METAL card with rounded edges get an 8.5 on corners?
Well, if they are rounded they aren't corners...maybe the grader thought you filed them down?? Tongue Looking at the card it doesn't look like any fraying or anything so I agree, no idea why that would be an 8.5 corners.

um...90's stuff? haha I don't collect his new stuff (unless it's a GU/auto) but other than that, just nice 90's inserts I don't have...which when you get above about $50 in bv it's just about all of them haha. Maybe shooting me a list in a PM would work best whenever you can Smile
