Dream of the '90's: 1998 Topps Stars

Dream of the '90's: 1998 Topps Stars
So, there has been a notable uptick in competition for '90's wax these days...and, while I'm not full of myself enough to claim responsibility, I'll probably retreat to my dark corner for awhile to recoup. Before that, I'll go out with a bang!

1998 Topps Stars was a brilliant release only to be quickly forgotten and marginalized by subsequent releases (I'm looking at you 1999 Topps Stars!). Every card is serial numbered, including base to /9799. Crazy to think that just a few years after the hype of the "Elite" series that an entire release was produced at a lower rate. I think I may have the set building itch for the first time in a loooooooong while. Onto the goods...

The Breakdown:

$46 dlvd.

Base - 2:1 (#'d /9799)
Bronze - 2:1 (#'d /9799)
Silver - 1:1 (#'d /4399)
Gold - 1:2 (#'d /2299)
Gold Rainbow - 1:46 (#'d /99)

Bronze Galaxy - 1:682 (#'d /100)
Silver Galaxy - 1:910 (#'d /75)
Gold Galaxy - 1:1,364 (#'d /50)
Gold Rainbow Galaxy - 1:13,643 (#'d /5)

Bronze Luminaries - 1:455 (#'d /100)
Silver Luminaries - 1:606 (#'d /75)
Gold Luminaries - 1:910 (#'d /50)
Gold Rainbow Luminaries - 1:9095 (#'d /5)

Bronze Supernovas - 1:682 (#'d /100)
Silver Supernovas - 1:910 (#'d /75)
Gold Supernovas - 1:1,364 (#'d /50)
Gold Rainbow Supernovas - 1:13,643 (#'d /5)

Bagwell looks like he's taking a dump. Is there a auto in every box? Congrats on the Bench auto and the Schmidt RC is awesome. Thanks for sharing

Awesome! I just sold off a big bunch of my base cards from this product. Very nice design.
I think I opened two boxes back when it was released and my best story is hitting two of the Rookie Reprint auto's stuck together in the same pack, sadly they are long gone via eBay (probably for far less than I would have gotten for them if I sold them today)
Congrats on that Bench auto!

I always like seeing a 90s box break with cool looking cards.

Congrats on the great auto pull!

I've been slowly acquiring some of these, but never ventured into buying a box ... Never knowing the chance of an auto in there. Waaaay cool.

I guess if I saved used tinfoil and used tea bags instead of old comic books and old baseball cards, the difference between a crazed hoarder and a savvy collector is in that inherent value.

I bought a bunch of that back in 1998 and even more of the football version. I also agree that the 1999 set was a big let down after the 1998 set came out.
Collecting John Stockton, Karl Malone, Ivan Rodriguez, Gary Carter & UF player rookie year cards.  Plus Jedd Gyorko rookie and prospect cards.
Jedd Gyorko 2010-2013: Have 329/419 including 1/1s
