if you want to get more attention for hoffman, say he was underrated - i wouldnt disagree with that notion

you dont do that by comparing him to the best of all-time

that is what has hurt tim raines chances for the HOF. ignore rickey henderson, who played at the sanme time, and was the GOAT. if you just look at tim raines...hof'er. no doubt. maybe not first ballot, but hof'er

and so it goes with hoffman. you only hurt him by comparing him to rivera. take hoffman, by himself. dont set the argument up as him versus mariano

RE: Mariano Rovera vs Trevor Hoffman
I am a little biased seeing that the only thing hanging on the walls of my bedroom is a giant frame containing a 42 jersery and 16 Rivera cards but as our NFL buddies would say COME ON MAN!!!!!!

I will agree that maybe Hoffman is underrated.

We can play stat game all day but the question I have is this......

Your team has a one run lead in the ninth inning of Game 7 of the World Series. Who do you want walking out of the bullpen to close up shop?

1) Mariano
2) It doesn't matter because the drop off is so drastic from option one.

Come on man! Are we really wasting bandwidth on this? lol

My Bucket

Wish list
1) Reggie White Auto
2) 2005 Topps Fan Favorite John Elway Auto (Baseball)
4) $$$ to buy 1 & 2

I hate the stupid Yankees but Rivera is the man! No comparison whatsoever to anybody!

.here is anyone else
when people talk about mariano: best of all-time. lock. there isnt argument about it

it's like saying "rickey henderson the best leadoff hitter of all-time"

simple fact. tim raines was great. he wasnt rickey. he wasnt close to rickey

trevor hoffman is tim raines to mariano's henderson. hoffman might make the hall some day. maybe. wont be the first few years, but he has a legitimate shot.

mariano is a first ballot hof'er. lock.
Couldn't agree more. Except I don't like his '04 ALCS numbers.
