RE: Singles vs. Boxes
I'm not a football collector, but I think it still translates over. I'm a Nolan Ryan BGS/BVG Supercollector and I have no use for anyone else. So it makes sense for me to only buy singles.

RE: Singles vs. Boxes
Singles for me.
Back in the 90s I used buy both but mostly boxes. I thought for the price of the card I wanted I could get the card AND some extra as well. As it turned out, I got burned more often than not. Sure I got lucky once in a while, but not enough to make up for what I spent overall. I ended up with a whole lot of junk I didn't want since I was not a set collector. I stopped collecting for 5 years after that. Once I cleaned house and made up my mind to buy singles, it was less clutter and more happiness. You want it? You get it. Don't settle for maybe.
