My question is since Leo Nunez is now offically not a baseball player and is now known as Juan Oviedo, will he be given another "Rookie Card"?

In all likelihood no. Mike Stanton became Giancarlo Stanton, under less suspicious circumstances, and the card companies did not feel it warranted issuing a new rookie card so I doubt they would when a player used a fake identity rather than just changing his name legally through the courts.
I would be surprised as well - they will more than likely treat it as any other name change
Royals Super Collector; PC's of Paul Splittorff, George Brett, Mike Sweeney
Maybe Topps can make "Golden Moments" inserts for the name change for him and the pitcher formerly known as Fausto Carmona...
Thanks jbel4331 for the sigs! |
