Neat Find In My Memorabilia Collection
Neat Find In My Memorabilia Collection
This past Christmas my girlfriend bought be a small lot of checks made out by the Atlanta Braves organization in the late 1960's. The majority of them weren't made out to anyone exciting (misc. businesses, etc) but I did some research on the names on these two and thought they were pretty neat. Both are signed on the back by these two from the deposit.
The first is Al LaMacchia, who played for a short time between 1943-1946 and became a scout for a number of teams. He's known for working with Dale Murphy, David Wells, and for talking the Dodgers into pursuing Andre Ethier.

Second one is Joe Bowman, who was a scout in the Braves organization at the time. He played for 6 teams between 1932-1945, and later became a scout in Kansas City. He's known for working with Reggie Jackson, Rollie Fingers, and Vida Blue.

Anyway, I just thought that was a neat find from something I didn't expect to find much of anything in.
