No matter how the world sees your cards, cycle through them often. If I keep cards out in the open for a month, that is a long time. Keep the blinds closed most of the time, and never leave the light on if you are not there. It is amazing how fast cards, autos, and patches can fade and doubly-amazing how you will not notice it until you compare it to another card in the set when it is too late.
